For the past few days, I've been in Vienna at a very fancy hotel. This hotel is so fancy that among the drinks at the breakfast buffet are 4 pitchers of water with crystals in them. This morning there were little notes in English beside each one, detailing the effects that drinking the water will have on you.

Feeling healthful? Good! Now have some Sachertorte.

Amethyst: to act on assuasive and abet the blood circulation

Quartz-Lemon: For vitality

Aventurin - Mint: Animate metabolism

Sodalit: scavenge your body and allay ailment

I really don't know which to choose here.

I'm not sure I'd want my body to be scavenged...

I'm just generally boggled. I love amethyst, but I don't want to drink it.

It's by far the best place I've ever stayed. I'm back in my cluttered flat now, and still kind of wowed.

Maybe I'm eccentric, but I prefer water you can't break your teeth on.

That aside, four days in the Hotel Sacher in Vienna sounds wonderful. Does it still have chambres separees?

I didn't see any-- but that doesn't mean there weren't. They did, however, give you little squares of Sachertorte in your room.

I've seen that in just a Gasthof in Austria, they called it 'rock water' and had a variety of minerals / gemstones in the jug, so it isn't just a mega-hotel thing. Well, maybe having each mineral separately is more posh; at a simpler place you don't have to decide which effect you want :-> Then again, you don't get the Sachertorte . . .

Taking "mineral water" very literally, it seems!
