A good day

Today
velvetdahlia and I went for dim sum at Yauatcha in Soho. Good dim sum and good company; what more could one desire on a sunny summer's day?
After stopping in at the Liberty sale for shirts for
burryman, the Dahlia was nice enough to accompany me to that Regent Street madhouse, the Apple Store. There I found out that nothing is wrong with my computer, it just needed a new power adapter. Ordinarily I'd be annoyed at the expense, but I'm so flooded with relief at not having to surrender my 'pute for repairs that I'm feeling very upbeat.
When the weather is warm, walking through London is one of my favourite things. After seeing velvetdahlia off at Piccadilly Circus, I walked down St James's to the Mall, through St James's Park, and past the Guards HQ and Buckingham Palace to Victoria (from whence I weenied out and got the bus home). I think I'm having one of those rare "I love London" moments.
I'm writing this from the comfort of the sofa, where I'm reclining with a glass of cranberry juice. The new adapter is plugged in and the 'pute is working fine, thank the Technology Gods. (If there are Technology Gods, do they spend all their time playing Civilization?)
Also, blueyonder have just put up a column I wrote a while ago, about webcomics. Many of the links in it are actually the product of
speedlime's noble brain. One day I hope some of her art will be on the web for us all to marvel at.
Finally, a recipe for some very degenerate sorbet (invented this weekend):
1 1/2 cups cold water
1 1/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup lemon or lime juice, or both
Zest of one lemon or two limes
Handful of mint leaves
2 or 3 tablespoons Pimm's
Combine all ingredients in a non-metal bowl and stir until sugar is dissolved. You can then put the mixture in the fridge for a few hours if you like.
Either freeze using an ice cream maker, or place mixture in sealed container in freezer and stir every few hours.
Tall frosty glasses of sorbet all round. Enjoy!!!

on 2006-07-13 07:22 pm (UTC)I think it involved a hell of a lot of ice and a blender. But that recipe sounds quite tantalising, especially as I have a bit of an addiction to mint, but I've never tried Pimm's before so that will be quite interesting. And, of course, it will have a percentage so more reason to test it out!
