It's a warm night in DC. It rained today, and the humid air is full of just-rained-smell. The crickets are singing.
On the flight here, I sat next to a woman who told me all about how she'd just left her son in London to start university, about the university, about her son's various aptitudes and difficulties, about her daughter back in DC, about her own belief in reincarnation even though she's C of E really...
At one point we were talking about the Internet and I asked her "Do you blog?"
"Oh no! I'm far too private a person for that."
Silence, but for the "thud" of my head hitting the tray table.

on 2007-09-16 10:22 pm (UTC)Minion number one is in Canberra. Which, I'm told, is filled with outcasts, namely public servants and heroin addicts (sometimes one and the same). I have no idea why she goes there. I only know that the service will be second-rate until she gets back.
Minion number two is juggling a rainwater plumbing job, fencing for the big white retarded rabbit (aka the dog), finishing the plaster board in the bathroom, and getting out the next issue of her magazine. Oh, and today she's off to paint legal graffiti at the University - something about "voting".
We think of you often, as well.
