Walking and flying
Jan. 7th, 2007 02:47 pmSo yesterday I spent some time with my Dad. We walked through the Zoo, said hello to the panda cub, and then turned off into Rock Creek Park. We ended up on a dirt trail that runs beside the creek, marked by blue-green blazes, with frequent climbs over rocks and up and down steep slopes and over tree roots massive enough to make one feel like a Hobbit. I didn't know that this kind of hiking was possible within walking distance of my parents' house! Yet another reason to love DC.
Yesterday the temperature was in the 70s Fahrenheit (low 20s Celsius). People still have their Christmas lights up! Weird, weird, weird.
I've just changed my flight so that now I'm returning to London on the 24th of January. I'll be glad to get back, but for now I'm really enjoying DC. If only I can work out some way to get access to a sewing machine...
Special bonus link: US Army urges dead to re-enlist. Zombie soldiers? Why the hell not?
