Quote of the day

"Theresienstadt was and remains for me a school that teaches structure. Previously, where one was unable to experience that weight of cruelty due to 'comfort' (this magic of civilisation), one was allowed simply to disregard it; it was easy to create the beautiful form. Here, where artistic substance has to try and endure its daily structure, where every bit of divine inspiration stands counter to its surroundings, it is here that one finds the masterclass."

Harvey Hallsmith

I saw a post you made a while ago talking about Harvey Hallsmith (aka Harvey Hall the actor). I wonder if you could let me know the school that he taught at in England?

I'm doing research into his life (strictly for my own curiosity), it's a pity there's so little info about him.

I think it's so cool that he taught not only the works of Chaucer but also those of Sylvia Plath!

Thanks for any help.

Hi, I was a student of Harvey's when he taught at the Charterhouse School, in Godalming, Surrey. He was an exceptional teacher and a marvellous man. I'm not sure what your research entails but if you have other questions about him you can email me at shsmith74@aol.com.
